The places where we live have a fundamental impact on our quality of life. The services that we access, the environments that we live in, and the connections that we have with our neighbours and with the wider world are of critical importance to our well-being. 

 

The Trust has always played a prominent role in helping to build strong communities, and this remains a major element of our work.  Across the UK and Ireland communities face significant challenges and risks. The Trust is keen to examine these issues, and look at what action needs to be taken to ensure that people can live in settings which enable them to lead satisfying and fulfilling lives.  

  

The quality of local environments is an issue of key concern to the Trust. Our sense of place is also shaped by our connectivity – both with those who live beside us, and with people, goods and services in other parts of the world. We will be undertaking work in each of these areas in 2012.
