The Institute of Welsh Affairs in association with the Carnegie UK Trust has today released a report assessing the current state of civil society in Wales. This report was initiated as a result of the findings of the Carnegie UK Trust’s Commission of Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society in the UK and Ireland. Their report, Making Good Society, was published in March 2010.

Martyn Evans, Chief Executive of the Trust, welcomed the publication Growing Welsh Civil Society:

“The Carnegie UK Trust are strong believers in the value of civil society and the role it can play in the UK and Ireland. The positive results highlighted in this report are evidence of the vitality of the sector in Wales, and are something which the rest of the UK and Ireland can hopefully go some way to replicating.

“The Making Good Society report was, I believe, a valuable contribution to the debate on the kind of society that we want to live in, and the fact that it has played some part in inspiring the Institute of Welsh Affairs to carry-out this report is very pleasing, and is a welcome endorsement of the Commission of Inquiry’s excellent work.”
