Carnegie supports major landowners conference

Posted on 10/08/2008

The Duke of Roxburghe is to host a major Landowners Conference titled: 'Communities on the Edge? Working together to sustain rural communities'  at Floors Castle on 18th November. Organised by Carnegie's Rural Action Research Partners from the Communities on the Edge project, the event is being promoted by the Scottish Rural Property and Business Association.

This event will bring together landowners from across the UK to share ideas and best practice and to consider how to add value to rural assets and sustain communities. It will focus on the relationship between landowning estates and the local communities they are part of. It will examine how  effective partnerships might lead the way to building a sustainable, resilient countryside, one that is fit to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Scottish Environment Minister Michael Russell will be giving the key note address and Carnegie's Rural Programme Director, Kate Braithwaite will also speak.

At a time when rural estates and their communities are facing significant changes, participants will be invited to participate in a range of workshops including Affordable Housing, Energy, Local Food, Assets as a driver of Economic and Social Change, Community Engagement and Futures Thinking.
