Geoff Brown to join Carnegie's Rural Team

Posted on 04/08/2008

Carnegie UK Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Geoff Brown as the new Project Facilitator.

At the start of the year we held interviews for the post of Community of Practice facilitator - and we were pleased that Nick Wilding accepted this particular challenge. On the day, the interview panel were very impressed by another candidate - Geoff Brown - and following a recommendation from the Rural Committee, the Board of Trustees have approved the creation of a further post within the rural team, with responsibility for other development work associated with the Community of Practice.

Geoff is known to many Carnegie partners already as he is working with Viv Lewis on a Rural Action Research Programme initiative in the north of England. Geoff has been employed as Programme Co-ordinator for the Cumbria Fells and Dales LEADER + and LEADER II Programmes since 1996 as is very well respected within the wider LEADER family within the UK and beyond. Geoff has also worked for Groundwork and Workers Education Association. Bringing a broad mix of skills to the role, he is also a social historian and a shepherd!

Geoff will be undertaking project management responsibilities as Carnegie develops the next stage of the Rural Programme - the development of a thriving rural Community of Practice which tackles the big challenges facing our communities.

Kate Braithwaite, Director of the Carnegie Rural Programme said 'I'm delighted that Geoff will be joining our small team at such an exciting time in the development of the Programme.'
