Jim Metcalfe, Head of Practice and Development

Jim joined Carnegie UK in 2011 as a Senior Policy Officer, after ten years’ experience in research, communications and project management.

In 2012, he was appointed as the Trust's Practice & Development Manager, now Head of Practice & Development. Jim's work focuses on finding practical innovations drawn from the Trust's policy work, and developing new partnerships with other organisations and agencies.  

Previously Jim worked as a researcher and manager for MPs Gordon Brown and John Healey, as well as in posts in the voluntary sector and corporate public affairs. He read history at Oxford University and was an executive member of the Oxford University Student Union.

He sits on expert panels and advisory boards for Inspiring Scotland, ACF Northern Ireland, Defra, the Scottish Government and Parliament, and the European Commission.

He lives in Glasgow with his wife and children Rosa and Ally. In 2014 he will be a proud Clydesider, a volunteer worker with the Commonwealth Games.
