#NotWithoutMe Digital Inclusion Accelerator Open for Applications
March 8, 2018
The Trust is delighted to announce the launch of next phase of our #NotWithoutMe Programme. This new phase includes an exciting funding and development opportunity, which opens today. APPLY ONLINE HERE by 5pm Monday 30th April 2018.
The #NotWithoutMe programme has been established by the Carnegie UK Trust to challenge digital exclusion for vulnerable young people aged 11-25 across the UK and Ireland. #NotWithoutMe supports the development of innovative digital inclusion projects and research to support vulnerable young people to develop their digital skills, resilience, confidence, access and critical understanding.
Following the launch of the #NotWithoutMe ‘A digital world for all?’ report last year, The Trust is now looking to support the development of a further three projects through their first digital inclusion accelerator. The programme has been designed to stimulate the development of youth focused digital inclusion initiatives, whilst also building staff and organisational capacity to effectively deliver the projects. A detailed description of the #NotWithoutMe Accelerator can be found in the Project Brief.
Douglas White, Head of Advocacy at the Carnegie UK Trust said:
“We are very pleased to launch of the next phase of the #NotWithoutMe programme, and are excited for the opportunity to work with organisations and young people to develop digital inclusion initiatives. Too often we make assumptions about the digital abilities of young people, simply because they have grown up a technology-rich environment. In reality, we need to actively support young people, and particularly vulnerable young people, to be safe and productive online.”
Simon Leeming, Head of the Digital Skills Partnership, DCMS said:
“”It’s fantastic to see #NotWithoutMe building on great achievements and moving into the next phase with the #NotWithoutMe Accelerator. The work of Carnegie UK Trust and its partners is vital in empowering people to make the most of the digital world and the transformative social benefits it has to offer.”
Vicki Shotbolt, CEO, ParentZone said:
“#NotWithoutMe is a much needed initiative that will provide vulnerable young people with a real opportunity to develop their digital resilience and confidence. Crucially, it will also work to ensure parents, carers and professionals have the understanding and skills they need to effectively support children in a digital world”.
The Trust is looking for enthusiastic organisations with experience working with vulnerable young people, based in the UK or Ireland, who want to take part in this innovative process. The #NotWithoutMe Accelerator will run over six months from July 2018 to December 2018 and will include £3,000 development funding and six full day workshops with sector experts covering relevant topics to support the design and build of digital inclusion projects. This will include developing co-design approaches, creative use of technologies and how to engage the adult support networks. By the end of the #NotWithoutMe Accelerator we expect the successful organisations to be ready to effectively deliver their projects.
Successful applicants will receive:
- The chance to be part of a six-month accelerator of support workshops, project and staff development opportunities. (The Trust will fund the full travel costs for up to two staff members to attend.)
- £3,000 funding to assist with designing and refining your project idea.
- Networking with participants, mentors and sector stakeholders.
- Opportunity to pitch for up to £40,000 further funding and a year’s support after the completion of the #NotWithoutMe Accelerator.
- Social media promotion for your project and work.
- Evaluation to identify successes, challenges and how to take your project forward.
APPLY ONLINE HERE by 5pm Monday 30th April 2018.
The application will be completed online, through a series of written questions, Theory of Change document and short video. The application is designed so that we can understand your organisation, your experience, enthusiasm and project idea.
