The Carnegie UK Trust At The 2015 Gathering
January 20, 2015
The Carnegie UK Trust is pleased to be hosting two free one hour workshops at the 2015 Gathering at the SECC in Glasgow on the 25th and 26th of February.
Drawing on Carnegie UK Trust programme work on the rise of the Enabling State this one hour workshop will be an opportunity to explore what a new more enabling approach to public services that gives communities and individuals more control looks like and will showcase practical examples from the third sector. There will also be the opportunity to discuss how the third sector can lead the change.
There is a growing interest amongst policymakers and practitioners in more flexible and responsive approaches that give individuals and communities greater control of services and programmes that seek to improve wellbeing.
Yet while there is broad agreement that a fundamental shift in approach is required to address the limitations of traditional top down ways of working and tackle deeply entrenched inequalities there remains a gulf between rhetoric and reality.
The workshop will include presentations from George Thomson, CEO, Volunteer Scotland and Kevin Geddes, Director of Development and Improvement, The ALLIANCE as well as from Jenny Brotchie, Carnegie UK Trust.
