The Brief

Well-designed public places can significantly improve our wellbeing. These places offer opportunities for social interaction, physical and leisure activity and enterprise. And when local communities are actively involved in creating public spaces the benefits can be even greater.

Through our Community Design project the Trust promotes high-quality, community-led design.

We’ve supported the development of Scotland’s new Place Standard while our Carnegie Prize for Design and Wellbeing recognises excellence in community public space design.
