Year: 2016

This report highlights the findings of the evaluation of Chance to Thrive, an asset based community development programme run by the Church of Scotland.  The initiative started in communities, that were encouraged to engage with local agencies (co-production) and to plan for and monitor the changes they aspired to (improvement).  A number of funders partnered with the Church of Scotland on the evaluation of the programme.5 The Carnegie UK Trust provided additional support which allowed for the production of an information film about Chance to Thrive and hosted several research seminars. The experiences of Chance to Thrive were seen as particularly relevant to the Carnegie UK Trust’s developing theory and practice on the Enabling State. This envisions communities of place and interest taking a greater role in the provision of services to the public.
